The Greather Debian world is big, fascinating and absolutely cutting-edge. The goal of the talk is to show a picture of it, and the ways in which it is possible to work with it.
I will give an introduction to advantages and pitfalls of
customization, then an overview of some of the major distributions built by customising Debian and their technical approaches (Skolelinux, Ubuntu, Knoppix and more).
Finally I will show what technical infrastructure is already available for creating derivatives, what problems are solved and work-arounds for the unsolved ones.
