Abstract : Cfengine, a 10 years old tool, developed by Mark Burgess at Oslo University College, is a really good system administration tool. I will discuss the following during my lecture : Concept of cfengine. The basic installation and deployment. What are the different actions available for playing around with the system ? Some of the actions are redundant, and there are several ways of doing the same things ; however, I do not want to start a flame war on which one is better than another one. Furthermore : Tips and Tricks for starting a cfengine project (Security, version control :cvs/svn,...). Few words about the future of cfengine.
Speaker : David VERNAZOBRES PhD ? student Division of Bioinformatics University of Muenster (http://www.uni-muenster.de/Biologie.Botanik/ebb/)
I’m managing the system infrastructure of our Workgroup, for now 2 years (I start my PhD ?, 2 years ago), principally with Cfengine. I have worked before for a company as a sysadmin while advancing my career in biology.
